Coupling conditions for the nonlinear shallow water equations in forks

Résumé

We study numerically and analytically how nonlinear shallow water waves propagate in a fork. Using a homothetic reduction procedure, conservation laws and numerical analysis in a 2D domain, we obtain simple angle dependent coupling conditions for the water height and the velocity. These agree semi-quantitatively with the full numerical solutions for different geometries.
