Sensitization to Appropriate Use of Electric Scooters to Avoid Their Banning
Résumé
Electric scooter is a groovy means of transportation especially for young people. Its use does not require a driver’s license. Thus, anyone can use it. This has a very negative impact as inappropriate use grows exponentially leading to corresponding accidents, often tragic. Our goal is to provide a series of approaches aimed at sensitizing young users to the appropriate use of these electric scooters. We propose different approaches for different age groups of young people. Providing two games, memory and a game inspired by the game of goose, taking into account the behaviors of young people, positive or negative aspect of scooter riding: wearing a helmet, protection, lighting, appropriate driving sense and on the contrary negative participation in the rodeo, the wheeling competition or taking your boyfriend or girlfriend and traveling as a couple, going too fast, driving in an inappropriate direction, not respecting stop signs and priorities, etc. For potential users, we have designed a physical system for school playgrounds, with an assistive system that allows to show, use and test appropriate behaviors, as has long been the case for bicycle use. Our last contribution is the design of an in-environment orienteering competition with electric scooters, in order to observe all the driving behaviors and to determine the winner not only based on the shortest time, but including all these behavioral aspects. A support system is able to collect all the behaviors (positive and negative) and to take them into account in the final result of the competition.
