Temporal reflection in a nonlinear photonic integrated circuit

Résumé

In this work, we report experimental signatures of multiple temporal reflections enabled by dual-wavelength pumping of a high-index doped silica glass integrated waveguide. By employing stabilized and synchronized Ytterbium and Erbium femtosecond lasers operating at 1040 nm and 1550 nm respectively, we demonstrate temporal reflection of the 1040 nm pulse interacting with the 1550 nm soliton barrier. These reflections induce significant frequency shift, which show good agreement with numerical simulations and phase-matching theory. Furthermore, the temporal reflection dynamics are shown to generate additional resonant radiation components, effectively broadening the supercontinuum bandwidth.
