Quelle urbanisation future pour les petites villes de la Mitidja (Algérie)?
Résumé
Abstract: Rapid urban expansion is currently observed in Algeria, particularly in the western Mitidja region, which is experiencing increasing pressure on its fertile agricultural land. This urbanization is fueled by population growth, internal migration during the black decade, and a housing policy that favors the construction of new residential areas. Agricultural land, particularly in the market gardening belt around Algiers, is being sacrificed for housing and infrastructure projects, thus disrupting the balance between urbanization and ag riculture. The text criticizes the lack of effective policies to preserve agricultural areas and the environment in the face of this process. This situation illustrates the tensions between urban development and the preservation of natural resources, in a context of insufficient territorial management.
