A Running Prototype for Dynamic QoS Management in the Cloud Continuum (Best demo paper Award)
Résumé
The Cloud Continuum refers to the distributed, heterogeneous and dynamic ecosystem that covers a full spectrum of computing environments such as cloud computing, cloud/edge computing and the Internet of Things. In this context, proactive QoS management is challenging taking into consideration the dynamicity and the prospective mobility of the different entities involved in the continuum. The aim of
this paper is twofold (i) highlight the need for dynamic and proactive QoS management models to provision the emerging applications such
as autonomous vehicles and car platooning, and (ii) demonstrate the value-added of the adoption of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering
(SRE) techniques while managing their hosting network and infrastructures. The presented prototype implements a proactive video streaming
service for car platooning. It relies on an innovative machine learning models switching approach during the platoon movement to enable the
dynamic and proactive QoS management.
