Newton lenses

The goal of this article is to observe limit shapes that we call patterns and profiles using moving lenses approaching an isolated singular point of a polynomial of 2 or 3 variables. Singular surfaces in C3\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{wasysym} \usepackage{amsfonts} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{amsbsy} \usepackage{mathrsfs} \usepackage{upgreek} \setlength{\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \begin{document}$${\mathbb {C}}<^>3$$\end{document} will often demand multiscale lenses. Inductions using a new type of Newton polygon or a new type of Newton polyhedron allows us to construct these moving lenses that we call Newton lenses. New ideas and procedures are explained in examples. But full proofs and the precise relation to classical studies as the one in Garcia Barroso and Teissier (Comment Math Helvetici 74:398-418, 1999) or other manipulations of Newton polygons by other authors remain to be done.
