Le mérite plutôt que le hasard ? Trois réponses à une provocation socratique
Résumé
At the heart of populist power and rhetoric, we find hostility towards political and economic elites. In this context, the very idea of meritocracy is sometimes challenged as fundamentally pernicious, nurturing the arrogance of the powerful, as well as the resentment of the downtrodden. In this essay, I put this critic of meritocracy into perspective, by analyzing three responses to the old socratic wish to entrust political power to the best men.
