An exact method for machining lines design with equipment selection and line balancing
Résumé
We study a line balancing problem for a machining line equipped with multi-positional machines, rotary tables and vertical and horizontal machining modules. For this challenging problem in production research, we develop an innovative mathematical model and use a mixed-integer program to solve it. The model is intensively tested on numerous real-life industrial cases as well as generated randomly instances. The obtained results are carefully analysed in order to provide the decision makers with sound managerial insights.
