Dovetail Design Solution Of PMSM Using Stainless Steel For Sensorless Performance Improvement

This paper proposes a dovetail design modification of Interior Permanent magnet synchronous machine. Nonmagnetic
stainless steel has been used for dovetail connecting components. The new design aims to propose a machine geometry
to improve sensorless performance without compromising torque ripple and average torque. The dovetail design solution
is validated by finite element analysis and has proved an extending of 100% of the feasibility area of sensorless control.
The mechanical analysis results prove that the new dovetail design could operate under full rated speed.
