Participatory research involving parents and young people with autism to learn about oral health care
The prevention of oral and dental problems is a public health priority (Lopez-Cazaux, 2017); this appropriation of care within the family raises questions about inter-social relations and educational contributions to improving the well-being of autistic children whose oral and dental hygiene is deficient.
Correlated with the NumAccessSanté project, our research places the participation of users in a process involving researchers, autistic children and parental carers in a subject-participant posture (Bourdon, 2021) with guidance in implicit experiential knowledge (Eyraud et al., 2018) and specific (micro)gestures (Alin, 2019).
Guided participation' (Rogoff, 1999) guides the methodological axis, postural and language analysis in dyscommunication. In terms of epistemology, the role of stakeholders in the production of scientific knowledge is essential; the analysis of activity in triangulated interactions (Bédoin et al., 2015) promotes empowerment and shared knowledge
