Résumé

Storytelling is one of the oldest ways by which humans have been informed about different societal problems across the ages. Over the past few years, there has been an increasing change in the way we incorporate recent technological advancements into the presentation of historical narratives. In this article, we provide an illustrative example focused on the industrialization and deindustrialization of the Gier Valley. This case effectively illustrates the growing necessity of utilizing storytelling methods within 3D environments. Such approaches are crucial for effectively educating the general public and various stakeholders who seek a comprehensive understanding of significant industrialization, deindustrialization, and reindustrialization events in various regions. Nonetheless, in addition to the geohistoric study, our primary contribution centers on the design and implementation of a generic and reproducible approach for storytelling within a 3D urban environment. We will present the conceptual models, the development process, and the extension of existing standards, along with the available solutions, all of which geared toward ensuring the reusability and reproducibility of our proposed methodology.
