In Search of the Disappeared Tools
À la recherche des outils disparus
Résumé
The research carried out in Eastern Languedoc for the period of the iron age has long allowed to characterize the ceramic not turned (CNT) of this part of Gaul. If we know relatively well today some technical characteristics related to the manufacture of this category of ceramic, on the other hand, certain stylistic aspects still remain to be better studied, especially the decorations present on these vases, and as a corollary, the tools used to produce them.
The study of the decorations of the ceramics not turned of Eastern Languedoc provides information on the potential types of tools used. If various tools were to exist, however, it is also likely that the same tool was used to achieve several motives. This is clearly perceptible through the analysis of the sets and in view of the varied number of patterns obtained.
