Sugar and Spice. Disaster on the Seine in the 16th century
Résumé
The article analyses two documents from the archives in Rouen that present the case of a ship that sunk in the Seine in the late sixteenth century. Laden with sugar and spices, the contents were lost in part to the water but also to theft. The documents are transcribed in the article.
