Question d'attribution : L'icône de saint Chenouté à Fum al-Khalig.
Résumé
Understanding the works of Ottoman icon painters in Egypt is no easy task, given the sheer number of them. Works by artists such as Mattary, Yuhanna al-Armani al-Qudsi and Ibrahim al-Nasikh have been found in most of the churches in Cairo and nearby monasteries since the 18th century. Among the panels from this period, we have a very unusual example depicting Saint Shenouda in the nave of the church of Saint John of Senhout in the Saint Minas monastery in Fum al-Khalig, north of Old Cairo.
