Résumé

• Water surface fluctuations of a river surface react systematically to changes in the flow depth and velocity • Depth, velocity, and discharge are estimated remotely by fitting theoretical relations to the spectra of images of the water surface • The uncertainty of the estimates is governed by the size of river surface covered by the images, limiting the achievable spatial resolution
