Incontri "quasi" casuali. L'ambasciata di Persia a Firenze nel 1601
Résumé
The first encounter between Tuscany and Safavid Persia in 1601 was certainly the result of the Persian will to contact Europe against the Ottomans and the Grand Duke’s hope to find an ally able to help him in his active policy in the Levant, but what made it possible were mainly characters and circumstances that originally had nothing to do with the possibility of establishing diplomatic relations between Tuscany and Persia. This paper deals with all the passages that made Florence the destination of the Persian diplomats.
