Security of Control Systems: Prevention of Aging Attacks by means of Convex Robust Simulation Forecasts

Résumé

Aging attacks are a class of attacks targeting closed-loop control systems connected to a network. Such attacks consist in slightly modifying the control signals to increase the wear and tear of the physical system while maintaining the delivered service. In this paper, we exploit the technique of robust simulation of linear systems for forecasting and preventing these attacks by means of convex optimization. Besides, this technique allows the computation of the time at which the normal aging is not guaranteed anymore for a given control input set. The paper end highlights an example application upon an electrical machine.
