Control of anaerobic digestion process
Résumé
This chapter deals with the design of observer-based control strategies via linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) for the anaerobic digestion (AD) process. The purpose is to track state trajectories reflecting a desired biogas production. The AD process is represented by a mass balance nonlinear model where the key variables are not accessible for measurement. Therefore, the control scheme is composed from a nonlinear state observer and a feedback control. Stability analysis is performed by using the Lipschitz conditions and the Lyapunov standard function, which allow synthesizing the stability conditions in the form of LMIs. Feasibility of the obtained LMIs is enhanced by using a suitable reformulation of the Young’s inequality.
