A System Framework for Sharing Economy

Résumé

The continuous growth of the sharing economy sector and the emergence of several famous brands like Uber and Airbnb raise many social and academic issues that need to be researched. So far, most of research are focused on the economic models or market strategies about sharing economy, few research works have been done from the perspective of information technologies. However, information system offers the essential platform to realize goods and services access and sharing. This paper aims to analyze the characteristics of sharing economy information systems, and propose a system framework, which could be considered a reference model to analyze or build new applications in this sector. In this paper, different collaboration models are firstly identified, then the success factors enabled by information technologies are introduced. Finally, a hierarchical system framework and its components are introduced, which can be considered as a reference model when researchers and engineers study or build sharing economy systems.
