Comparison of Two Real-Time Predictive Strategies for the Optimal Energy Management of a Hybrid Electric Vehicle

Résumé

The presence of at least two alternative power sources in a HEV poses the problem of determining the optimal power split among them for a given driver's request in order to achieve a minimum fuel consumption. This article will introduce two strategies capable of solving this optimisation problem both relying on predictive information about the driving conditions within a limited future time horizon. The important aspects of optimality of the determined power split and the real-time applicability of the algorithms are addressed.
