Quels problèmes pour la recherche d’information médicale au Mali ?

Bupa company conducted a survey between June and July 2010 in 12 countries around the world. According to this survey, at least three out of five respondents were searching for information about their health on the Internet. Mostly, respondents seek information on a disease or the symptoms of a disease and then on medications. In most cases, a general search engine is used. Another study conducted in the United States in 2013 showed that 75% of respondents who had already consulted the internet for a diagnosis did not feel the need to check the sources. Medical information retrieval is facing specific challenges: the quality and reliability of the results are crucial, and they should take into account the diversity in knowledge (and terminology) of health professionals in front of patients. However, IR application to the medical domain allows to use of terminological and semantic resources (e.g. UMLS) for advanced processing. The aim of this article is to list the main research issues that arise in the context of medical IR on the internet, each of which being illustrated by a usage scenario
