Experimental investigation of the interaction of a blade with a plane layer of granular material inside a cylinder

Résumé

The objective of the study is to find experimentally the transition probabilities in a plane layer of granular material after crossing it by a blade coaxial to the cylinder. The results were obtained at an experimental set for the following couples of materials : semolina in couscous, couscous in semolina, colored couscous in couscous. It was shown experimentally that the probability to stay in the zone covered by the blade depends only on the layer height and does not depend on the blade angle, and the ratio of backward and forward probabilities depends only on this angle and does not depend on the layer height.
