A new system for project management: the I2MS interface

Résumé

Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to a broad range of activities in order to meet the requirements of the particular project. A project is a temporary endeavour undertaken to achieve a particular aim. Project management knowledge and practices are best described in terms of their component processes. These processes can be placed into five Process Groups: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Controlling and Closing. Many human activities use project management; for example a lawyer manages his client files as a project. A doctor uses project management techniques as a therapeutic project, etc. Project management uses within the framework of a methodology, task sequencing often described with a PERT graph as well as documents, deliverable, information associated with these tasks. No system for the moment makes it possible to put in glance a chronology of tasks with the useful physical objects related to. We propose in this article our system I2MS (Iconic Interface Management System) which allows showing the different steps of a project using a specific iconic interface: the different concepts of a project are represented using objects. Objects can be created locally or removed from external information systems. The creation place will impact on their sharing.
