Multi-scale modelling for simulating marine activities under heterogeneous environmental constraints
Résumé
This paper describes the concepts behind the implementation of a multi-agent model aiming to explore how marine activities respond to various environmental constraints. The method benefits from a responsive agent-based structure, and treats the environment as a set of forcing variables (biophysical, socio-economic and regulatory data). A first experiment in the Iroise Sea area, France, shows this approach has great potential for assessing the intensity and the variability of marine activities at different scales. The complete method is presented in this paper in order to comprehesively analyse the contributions and limitations of the SIMARIS prototype.
