Chorems: A New Tool For Territorial Intelligence

Abstract

Territorial intelligence is to territory what business intelligence is to companies, i.e. a set of information technologies (IT) tools for helping govern territories. Among those tools, chorems as visual and schematized representations of territories seem a good candidate in order to show visually geographic knowledge. After having given a definition of chorems, general software architecture is presented in order to extract geographic knowledge by spatial data mining, to encode it with an extensible markup language (XML)-based language called chorem markup language (ChorML) and to visualize them. We conclude the paper with some examples and future research per-spectives.
