Conception and modelization of a settling-velocity particle size analyser

Résumé

The present paper presents the designing of a particle size analyzer. It enables its user to carry out measurements on a monophonic ore in order to obtain the weight percentage of several predeterminate size factions. The particle size analyzer is related to pressure measurements. As sedimentation is the physical principle used, the pressure evolution is time dependent and characterizes the pulp composition, thus the weight percentage in each fraction. All the experiments have been carried out on a prototype sensor managed by a microprocessor unit, especially developed to control it, while treatment have been made with an independent microcomputer which is more adapted for mathematical and graphic treatments.
