Maritimidad en Barranquilla: etapas del desarrollo urbano y su relación con el puerto

A retrospective sight into the different stages of the Port-Urban Interface in the City of Barranquilla (Colombia) provides a frame of analysis to the current situation in which the city has consolidate hat we in this article as "maritimidad fluvial"; however despite the fact of its former state as an important development engine, currently it is very far from being a potential for development. The question is identified through the fact that the port itself is actually seen as an engine for economical development. While "Maritimidad" is seen as the effective and efficient relation between a city and its port; and the port must get involved in all levels of development in the city. In the case of Barranquilla it does not seem to be clear although this is a special, industrial and port district.
Una retrospectiva de las etapas de la maritimidad en Barranquilla (Colombia) permite realizar un marco de análisis de la situación actual en la que la ciudad ha consolidado la aquí llamada "mariti- midad fluvial"; sin embargo, a pesar de haber sido este hecho en gran parte el motor del desarrollo de la ciudad, se encuentra muy lejos de ser entendido como un potencial de desarrollo. La pregunta problema se identifica en el hecho de que, fectivamente, el puerto en sí mismo es entendido como un motor de desarrollo económico, mientras que la maritimidad, entendida como la relación enrique- cedora y positiva de una ciudad con su puerto, que debe integrarse en todos los niveles del desarrollo de la ciudad, no parece definirse o concretarse realmente en una urbe que se precia de ser Distrito Especial, Industrial y Portuario.
