Old Chinese and Proto-Austronesian
Résumé
This paper presents an updated argument for a genetic relationship between Old Chinese (OC) and Proto-Austronesian (PAN). In response to criticism of my earlier work, a more restrictive approach to lexical comparison has been adopted. Particular attention has been paid to the Formosan material. Evidence of congruence in the domains of morphology (§. II), the basic lexicon (§. III), and sound correspondences (§. IV, V), as well as some elements of extra-linguistic evidence (§. VI) will be presented.
