Résumé

The present paper is aimed at the experimental characterization and the modeling of discharges propagating over non uniformly polluted circular insulator models under impulse voltages. It concerns more especially the influence of the width and the conductivity of contamination bands on the discharge patterns and the associated currents; the influence of the polarity of voltage is also investigated. The polluted bands are simulated by grooves of different depths filled with an electrolyte of a given conductivity. It's shown that for pollution bands of high conductivity, the discharges consist of discontinuous straight lines centered at the point electrode; the discontinuities (i.e. non visible parts of the discharge channels) appears at the polluted bands. The final length and the number of branches are more important with a positive point than with a negative one. The simulated results given by a dynamic model based on equivalent electrical circuits are presented and discussed.
