Using path diversity for layered video transport in wireless sensor networks
Résumé
Video applications in wireless sensor networks are foreseen to become a reality since sensors equipped with low-cost cameras are available. These envisioning components will strengthen a wide range of sensor networks applications especially surveillance ones. However bandwidth availability is very limited in wireless sensor networks while video applications are bandwidth hungry. This is why new approaches adapted to both wireless sensor networks and video transport specific characteristics is required. In this work, we propose to use a multipath routing protocol in order to provide necessary bandwidth to video streaming while paying attention to the network lifetime being maximized. A simple multipath routing protocol and a priority-based layered video transport are proposed. Simulations are performed in order to get insight into the performances of our proposals.
