SculpSi. A digital edition of Greek and Roman Sculptors’ signatures (323 BCE-138 CE)
Résumé
This article presents the SculpSi project, which studies the signatures of Greek and Roman sculptors to systematically explore their lives, mobility, and professional identities. By integrating textual, material, and contextual evidence, the project offers new insights into artistic production, workshop practices, and the circulation of artworks and artists across the Hellenistic and Imperial periods, up to the Hadrianic era. Its main output is an open -access database, soon to be launched, designed to overcome the limitations of printed corpora and to enable detailed analysis of sculptors’ inscriptions.
