Health Awareness and Nutrition Knowledge among Users of Online Food Delivery Platforms (Young Adults Aged 18-25 Years)

Résumé

This study examines the impact of online food delivery platforms on dietary choices and nutrition awareness among young adults aged 18–25 years. With the increasing reliance on digital platforms for convenient meal access, concerns regarding dietary quality and health awareness have gained importance. The study was conducted using a cross-sectional survey design among 100 students of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency and percentage, along with chi-square test to assess associations between variables. The findings reveal that a majority of respondents frequently use online food delivery platforms due to convenience and time-saving benefits. However, the level of nutrition awareness among participants was found to be moderate, and this awareness did not always translate into healthy food choices. A significant association was observed between frequency of platform usage and nutrition awareness levels. Many respondents preferred taste and convenience over nutritional value while ordering food online. The study concludes that although young adults possess basic nutritional knowledge, their food choices are largely influenced by external factors such as accessibility and promotional strategies. The findings highlight the need for improved nutritional awareness and healthier food environment on online platforms.
