Towards integration of spectral data for the preventive conservation of castle-museums

Vers l'intégration des données hyperspectrales pour la conservation préventives des châteaux-musées

Résumé

In view of the climatic conditions that influence sudden variations in temperature and humidity, and the complexity of preventive conservation raised by the specific nature of castle-museums on which the hygrothermal stress is thus increased, the development of a new predictive decisionmaking tool in the field of conservation seems relevant as an extension of the European Protocol in Preventive Conservation (EPICO) method. The use of hyperspectral imagery (HSI), already employed in the field of conservation, coupled with 3D capture, is therefore emerging as a means of correlating the multi-scale data from their capture with environmental sensor data. In particular, the analysis of water absorption in decorations (wood, textiles, etc.) as a function of the hygrothermal stress is proving to be a major challenge for museum castles such as the Versailles Castle.
