Les transitions horizontales à l’éducation préscolaire au Québec et en France : le vécu d’enfants au fil de la journée.
Résumé
Horizontal transitions in kindergarten involve daily passages between different contexts (for example, home to school, school-based childcare to class) (Johansson, 2007). These transitions can be occasions of collaboration and consultation between the different actors who spend time with the children, including parents (Bloch et Kim, 2015). However, they can also constitute challenges when adult expectations of children diverge (Petriwskyj et al., 2005). Although there have been few research studies on horizontal transitions in early childhood, this chapter offers an innovative analysis of horizontal transitions experienced by four-year-old school children in Quebec and France. This analysis is based on several interdependent dimensions: the actors involved, the activities carried out, the institutions concerned, and the societal context in which they take place (Edwards et al., 2019).
