La Belle Époque des collectionneurs d’antiques en Europe, 1850-1914
Résumé
The years 1870-1914 were the Belle Époque of antique collecting, which moved beyond the restricted circle of learned and wealthy enthusiasts to become more widespread throughout European society, with people acquiring inexpensive statuettes made from the most prestigious marbles. Auction houses, particularly those in Paris, were central locations where collections were made and broken up, and were at the heart of the strategies of the various players in the market.
