Lorand Gaspar: Poetics of the Living
Poétique du vivant chez Lorand Gaspar
Résumé
Lorand Gaspar’s poetics are as ecological as they come, as I set out to demonstrate in my essay on his work as a whole. The posthumous publication of Feuilles d'hôpital enables us to measure its impact and scope, in the last thirty years of a thought that never ceases to go beyond the medical domain. Five movements mark out the progression of this article. It all begins with the affirmation of the One, as a metaphysical principle which can dismiss the various dualistic cleavages for the benefit of a whole determined as the weaving together of body and mind, of man and the universe. Secondly, seen diachronically, this One is seen as genesis (but anti-creationist), and its regulation is homeostasis. Hence, thirdly, the perception of the world as a Marvel. But in the age of the Anthropocene, a major destabilization has already caused a number of red lines to be crossed, leaving our planet’s fragile balance open to the ravages of capitalist greed. Fortunately, fifthly, it is in the proximity of disaster that the life instinct emerges with force.
