Découverte d’un spécimen albinos d’Orvet fragile dans le département de la Loire-Atlantique (France)
Résumé
Discovery of an albino specimen of Slow worm (Anguis fragilis) in the Loire-Atlantique Department (France). According to its size, the specimen is a young-of-the-year observed on 14/09/2024 thermoregulating under a fiber cement board. The site where the specimen was discovered has been monitored since 2007 with 25 cover boards. 5229 contacts of Slow worms have been observed during this survey program, but it is the first time that an albino specimen is documented. According to literature searches, even though it is sometimes reported, albinism is rare in this species and it thus seemed important to report this field observation.
