Residual error estimators for Coulomb frictional contact
Résumé
Contact and friction problems in elasticity can be formulated as (quasi-)variational inequalities and involve specific non-linear non-smooth boundary conditions. This is challenging for a posteriori error estimation that needs to account for these non-standard boundary conditions. This chapter describes how residual-based error estimates can be derived for some mixed discretizations and Nitsche-type discretization for frictional contact with Coulomb friction in two and three dimensions. It presents also existing results for reliability and efficiency. Some numerical experiments illustrate the properties and the interest of the estimators.
