Fullwave frequency dependent inductance estimation for RSFQ applications in NbN multilayer technology

Résumé

Frequency dependent inductance estimation has been carried out for RSFQ applications in NbN multilayer technology until several THz well beyond the cut-off frequency. For this we use an extension of the fullwave modified transverse resonance method in which each superconducting layer is characterized by its complex conductivity according to the BCS derived model of Mattis and Bardeen. In the low frequency range, results comparable to other magnetoquasistatic based inductance estimator such as FastHenry have been obtained for conventional microstrip structure. Our estimation shows significant influence of the cut-off frequency on the NbN multilayer structure inductance at very high frequency. Some measurements of inductance based on superconducting quantum interference device (SQUIDs) will be made within few weeks.
