The rising Oceanian climate diplomacy 11mai 2023 Working paper to be corrected and included into F.Poirat (dir.), Actes du colloque 'Insularité(s) et changement climatique', Maison des sciences de l'Homme/UPF
Résumé
At the forefront of climate change are the Oceanian states and territories that are also leading political and legal developments designed to combat its effects and to make states face up to their obligations. Specifically within the framework of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) but not only, considerable regional efforts in this direction can be observed, notably through declarations formulated to push forward legal evolutions or through judicial strategies ("lawfare"). These efforts testify to the strengthening of a genuine climate diplomacy contributing to a notable change within the international community.
