Blockchain-based Jamming Detection in Vehicular Networks

Résumé

Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems (CITS) represent a major step forward in the transport sector. However, the development of new communication systems, particularly in a wireless connection, is also necessarily associated with new security risks. Among the various attacks, the presence of a jammer disrupting the reception of radio signals could seriously disrupt the reliability and integrity of exchanges, and constitutes a major threat. That’s why in this article we propose a new solution for detecting jammers. The solution implemented aims to enable all the nodes in the vehicular network (car, infrastructure) to be informed when a jammer is present in their zone or a neighboring zone. By integrating edge computing, the detection and alert mechanisms can be executed closer to the source of data, enhancing response times and maintaining network stability. The implementation of such a solution is intended to guarantee the operation of C-ITS even under attack conditions. To guarantee the security and reliability of the system implemented, an approach based on the Blockchain technology and the use of Smart Contracts is described.
