Compact superdirective array with beamforming capability

Résumé

This paper presents the design of a compact, wide-band and efficient superdirective antenna array with beam-forming capability in the azimuthal plane for a 5G wireless home gateway. The antenna architecture is designed to operate in the 5G NR n28 frequency band between [758-803 MHz] with a compact form factor with respect to the operating wavelength (λ = 384 mm) of 0.38λ×0.38λ×0.39λ. The optimized antenna enables the coverage of the four main directions of the horizontal plane with a directivity greater than 8 dBi, a total efficiency greater than 80% and a wide impedance bandwidth of 16.6%.
