Résumé

HydDown is a python library for calculation of vessel/pressure cylinder response to filling / discharge. It is mainly intended for pressurised gasseous hydrogen storage, but works well with other gasses and gasseous mixtures. The library employs a Helmholtz energy formulation equation of state for accurate thermodynamics (provided by CoolProp) and by solving a mass and internal energy balance (1. law flow process) including a heat transfer model, the time dependent inventory, pressure, gas temperature and vessel material temperature can be predicted. The code includes various inlet/outlet flow models including user specified mass rate of filling/discharge, a control valve model, an orifice model and a pressure safety valve model (for over-pressure protection including dynamic response such as valve opening closing hysteresis) . Further, a Stefan-Boltzmann heat load model is included to allow investigation of vessel response to an external fire. The code is validated against experiments sourced from the literature including nitrogen discharge, hydrogen filling and hydrogen discharge.
