Japanese or Chinese? Cases of Mistaken Provenance in Buddhist Art

Résumé

For the last two years, the provenance of the Buddhist statues in the Mariemont collection has been researched and reassessed. The collection is not displayed and is unpublished. Each of the 60 statues needs to be individually studied, with the Museum inventory and archives as a primary source of information.
