Urban and Peri-urban Agriculture public policies : a comparison between São Paulo and Campinas municipalities
Políticas Públicas de Agricultura Urbana e Periurbana: uma comparação entre os casos de São Paulo e Campinas
Résumé
The main objective of the article is to present urban and peri-urban agriculture (UPA) as a social and environmental entrepreneurial activity as well as analyze the role of state and non-state actors in urban agro-ecological agriculture practices. The analysis is conducted based on two local UPA experiences in São Paulo state, one in São Paulo City and the other in Campinas City. For the purpose of comparative analysis, we observe the differences and the vicinity of the two experiments considering three macro-categories: political-institutional, social and economic. The analysis results show that despite regional and social differences between the two cases, both face similar institutional difficulties.
