From Pasture to Passé
Résumé
From Pasture to Passé is an academic presentation exploring the portrayal of spineless digital films and fleshless animals in Swedish and Norwegian post-cinema from 2013 to 2025. The first part of the study connects capital, cattle, chattel, and the Capitalocene by examining the relationships between digital representations of animals, soulless cows, and their significance within contemporary Swedish film culture. The second part delves into pre-modern maritime monsters resurfacing from Deep Time to deliver a message to Norwegian audiences. The discussion addresses the loss of reality, cultural heritage, and ethics within a fragile ecosystem that is losing its head (caput in Latin).
