Teaching purposeful reading strategies to vocational school students: A quasi-experimental intervention study
Résumé
We report the results of a quasi-experimental intervention study aimed at fostering vocational school students' purposeful reading skills. In collaboration with a group of teachers, instructional resources were developed to explicitly train a set of purposeful reading sub-processes (e.g., task model, scanning, information evaluation). Their effectiveness was assessed in a quasi-experimental trial. The first results obtained with 237 students appear promising and will be completed by the time of the conference.
