SLIDERS, software and hardware

Résumé

SLIDERS is an ambitious artistic and technical project that proposes a new way of conceiving and making cinema. The open computer machine [1] we have invented allows three performers to edit a new type of film in real time, using visual and sound elements stored in databases. This film, played during performances in front of an audience, is what we call "the film to come", i.e. a film N+1 to which a new track, that of programming, has been added to the image and sound tracks. One of the characteristics of this new type of film is that it can be "configured" or modelled ad infinitum.
