LE SONNET ET LA SEXTINE: DEUX FORMES CONTEMPORAINES “CRÉANTES”
Résumé
SONNET AND SESTINA: TWO CREATIVE CONTEMPORARY FORMS
While Surrealism, a century ago, liberated the poem from all constraints, it
must be acknowledged that in the twenty-first century, two fixed forms have
regained their attractiveness: the sonnet and the sestina are thus particularly represented
in the Anthologies of the Oulipo, an avant-garde literary group representative
of contemporary so-called formal poetry. However, it seems interesting
to reflect on the evolution of these two forms and to focus on the interest
that the sestina (and other ‘quenines’) has aroused from a comparative analysis.
We would like to show that the sestina (like the sonnet) is not only a textual
plan (Adam, 2015). The different ways in which contemporaries have appropriated
these forms make them poetic genres in their own right.
