Modeling the Bias Current and OFDM Signal Power under Amplitude Constraints for SI-POF
Résumé
Advantages achieved by mobile communication have led to the evolution of access networks, especially using optical fibers. Nevertheless, optical access can be quite expensive even for short range links. The step-index plastic optical fiber (SIPOF) provides several advantages to traditional optical fibers. Nonetheless, due to the high modal dispersion, long connections become unfeasible. This article brings about some models of bias, OFDM signal power, and fiber length, for an access network using SI-POF, as a tool for the link design with a high signal-to-noise ratio. In this work, several models for this type of network are also compared, in addition to the relations underlying the model’s complexity and the evaluation of the results.
